Nazi POWs a plenty were shipped to US. Worked in cotton and tobacco fields. List of PoWs camps en.wikipedia.org 2 Cossac divisions joined the Reich. After losing Stalingrad battle, Feld Marshall Paulus surrendered to the Russians. Hitler expected Paulus to commit suicide, citing the fact that there was no record of a German field marshal ever surrendering to enemy forces. While in Soviet captivity during the war Paulus became a vocal critic of the Nazi regime and joined the Russian-sponsored National Committee for a Free Germany. He was not released until 1953. 1 million Russians joined the Wehrmacht to have something to eat. In the end it was all about aving something to eat. The fathers would push the sons to join the SS for getting schooling, training, clothes and get a mouth out of the house.
