<<To me, this is exactly the type of things that emboldens the right wing. Countries like India have learnt the hard way that too much union drives the capitalists away. We are not a communist country and cannot seize the capitalist assets.>>

Chinu, it is a cardinal sin of debate to use one anecdote to make your point. I can't believe you are against unions. That you do not understand the working man needs someone to represent and protect him.

I doubt you will find many on your own thread against unions. That is a Republican right winger position. We dems know better. Are you forgetting about sweatshops?

The unions are what gave the working man his first fair wage and safe and fair working environment e.g. the 8 hour work week, weekends off and an end to the company store. You need to read up on how bad things were for the working man before unions. Read about the working man in the early 1900's. In steel plants for instance. They were subjected to terrible working conditions

In the 50's, 35% of the work force was unionized and never did we have a more fair income distribution, or stronger country. Now that the right wingers have busted most of the unions and have it down to 6% we have the bottom 50% of th epopulation with 2.5% of the wealth, or the fact the top 400 people have more welath than the bottom 150 million people.

We now are 65th in income distribution. Ahead of Rawanda and behind Uganda!
