You can see a picture of a synchrotron at:

xraylitho.com

Click on OXFORD INDUSTRIES at the bottom next to the SAL logo. Then search the Oxford A-Z Index for "Superconducting Synchrotrons". When you
see a small picture next to text, click on the picture and you'll see an enlargement. (This is a "compact" synchrotron.)

I think they saw a large market in ASICs and not much competition Most companies in electronics with >$100 million revenues have their own ASIC development and production capability. Many companies do ASIC in house for security (national defense) and for proprietary reasons. Depending on ASIC subcontract work is a very hard way to make a living, and I don't believe for a microsecond that's what JM had in mind when he bought CalASIC. That he changed his mind in one year or less because of more lucrative work in micromachining (or whatever) would indicate almost total lack of due diligence. IMO, the argument you offer is specious. Gooch, about 20 messages back, offers a better reading on this. Openly admitting that CATS is a loser is a poor way to find a willing partner to contribute to the operation, IMO. Mnagement, in these intances, does not impress me. Does it impress you? Tulvio
