I saw it last night. I believe it was on FOX in the 9o'c dslot. During the *ALLY MACBEAL* show. Frankly, I was disappointed. If you had asked people after what was being advertised, they might have answered "Oh, that big Russian plane, I think". Not enough mention of ZIP and it wasn't in BOLD.

Re: Is IOM planning to expand their advertising into the print media

Calvin,
There are regular full page ads for Zip in Information Week, which is aimed at corporate IT types. The basic theme: zip drives save you headaches. I think it's well placed because IT people buy big lots of their favorite products.

BTW, the campus computer store has sent e-mails twice in the last two weeks to all sys admin e-mail lists on our campus, pushing Iomega products as follows:
"Wareforce, a UC reseller for several product lines, is now offering Iomega Zip and Jaz drives (and supplies) at educational discounts. A full array of Iomega products are offered. Here are some examples:
Zip Plus $181.82
Zip SCSI or Parallel 136.00
Zip Internal SCSI (Full) 134.33
Zip Internal PC IDE 100.22
Zip disk 10-pack 109.00
Jaz External SCSI 371.51
Jaz Internal SCSI 279.57
Jaz Disk (1GB) 82.39 "

The prices aren't as interesting as is the way the products are being waved at us, and in a manner which suggests this is the standard.

More miscellany: I asked a Unix-god friend whether he uses ufsdump or tar to back up his SGI, and the answer was, "I just use a Jaz". A Jaz will only get you so far with a big hard drive, but it's still a good sign - no one really likes tape drives.

Regards
Eve
