I know only a 5.9 but what people don't realize is all the buildings in the area are built for only meager wind lateral forces which governs all designs rather than seismic. I work in a brick gun carriage shop converted to office spaces. The building is very very very old, built in the mid 1800s, so it was kind of scary just knowing that it may not be able to withstand much of an earthquake. My first thought: I was feeling the aftershock of a massive bomb from a terrorist attack near the Capitol Bldg.
