I think the Chavez news will necessitate another hike in margin requirements to prevent speculation.

That's the only ammunition they have, outside of physical selling, to contain the price, IMO..

It's obvious what Chavez is doing.. trying to ignite a short sqeeze on gold.. And I have no problem with it since Venezuela owns the gold and can store it where they want to.

If some bank was loaning out that country's gold without their consent, they deserve to be burned..

But it will also have consequences for Hugo in other ways..

Btw.. Qadaffi's 144 tonnes in gold may find itself coming onto the market.. Could be the "reward" for NATO support.
