In the past tattoos were used to show ownership: cattle, concentration camp victims.

Only the roughest level of society had tattoos--sailors, etc.

The tatooed man in the circus was considered a freak on a level with the giant, the midget, the fat lady, the bearded lady, the armless lady who typed with her toes, etc.

Today the circus tatooed man would be out of a job.

My sister-in-law started with a small discrete one. Then got another. Then another. She got a hideous one with the picture of her two kids.

It's like it's addictive.

The BEST tattoo I ever saw was a small pink rose just above the ankle of a very attractive young lady.
