RE: I don't know what CORBA is

CORBA is the technology behind all internet transactions where reliability is of primary importance (i.e. financial, etc.). MS refuses to buy into CORBA. MS' COM, which is fine for extending desktop applications (where binary compatibility is a plus), is a real loser in high-reliability remote client-server applications. DCOM is a dog, in that is full of holes (and extremely unreliable over the internet). Question, how many server-based financial applications are deployed using DCOM. Answer none.

CORBA has been embraced by every major systems company except MS. That is IBM, HP, DEC, SUN, ORACLE, etc., etc., etc. And Visigenic's CORBA is emerging as one of CORBA leaders. This makes sense for BORL. BORL is quickly becoming the Open-Standards Tools company. They will have the best CORBA technology, and the best development tools tightly integrated with that technology.
