My Freshman year in college, I had a concussion. With Amnesia for 8 hours, never knocked out. I had the year off than hit it hard for the rest of my college years. Buy him a better helmet, it will save more problems. They got me a gladiator helmet, no more peoblems. It was in the 70s.

I have had about a dozen of those from walking on ice. Got tired of waking up laying on the ground and started wearing a mounty cap for protection.
