That's not the kind of multitasking I'm used to on a modern device. I understand that the video doesn't need to continue playback in the background (very few platforms allow this). But my state should be saved *no matter what.* And yes, I expect the saved state to survive even if the OS needs to close the app while in the background, because I have no control over that. So yes, maybe you're right that technically, Android does true multitasking, but that only lasts until it doesn't. And true multitasking might have some advantages in certain situations. But in my experience, I need a reliable "save state" far more often.

1. Get an iPhone.
2. Start a youtube video.
3. Press home button.
4. Select new app to open
5. Double click home button.
6. Open youtube right where you left off.
7. Get rid of Android POS.

For a 512Mb system about 310-330Mb should be available for apps. The rest is system related. So your 196 MB used and 124 MB Free is fine. Maybe you need to tell me what services you are running and what version of the OS. Did you update the OS? What version of the OS came when you bought it and what is the version now? Did you update anything system related on the phone (HTC Sense update etc..) ? My wife uses a HTC phone (myTouch 4G) and it screams. No problems whatsoever. And it's faaast... by comparison my old iPhone 3GS was a piece of crap.

I use a Samsung Vibrant with 512Mb RAM with Froyo and Bionix 1.3.1 ROM and it is very fast. No hesitation or lag on anything. It is super fast yet it doesn't have any of the newer hardware like dual core or 1Gb RAM. And it has the same memory as you. BTW, youtube on my phone works how you expect it to work where I can go to my iStockManager and go back and the video will start were I left off.

BTW, you don't need to read them, but it will give you a damn good understanding how true multitasking works on Android. iPhone does not even have "services" for background notifications God's sake....
