No doubt about it.. Buffet was probably asked for his advice as to what to do about BAC..

He did the numbers, and realized that he could use his immense financial and personal clout to extort a deal with Moynihan that is to Buffett's financial advantage, while giving BAC some real credibility.

Again, I concur with some of the pundits out there that BAC can probably drag out it's liabilities and settle for less. Few courts will accept a settlement that forces one of the parties into bankruptcy.

Look how difficult it's been to get the Asbestos industry to "pay up" for the malfeasance of their former management? (this is a "pet peeve" of mine since my father died of Mesothelioma two years ago).
