AMAT. Held it for a year, sold yesterday. I should have traded it as you did, or at least traded out of it when stock was up. I guess this one has to be followed closely because its business and stock are cyclical. AMAT does seem to me to be a value stock at this point. I'll have to consider that if I reenter, I'll have to be watching it more closely than I otherwise would have expected. Meanwhile, my preference is for stocks now where I believe earnings will be up in next six months. (That doesn't seem to be AMAT, given management's current outlook.)

yes, AMAT and other semi equips. some really good discussion on the sector over on this thread:

I have no special insight with the semi-equips, I just do the best I can to keep up with events, but the hyper cyclical boom/bust nature of the semi-equip business can provide some great opportunities every once in a while.
