If you live north of NC, don't underestimate Irene.

Hey Ron. These guys are tough and cynical. If it's easy they will blame the media for over playing it, and if it's hard they will blame the government for incompetence. <sigh>. It's a great thing to abdicate responsibility and pontificate from the sideline.

If you live north of NC, don't underestimate Irene. The threat is the flooding now, not the winds. This storm is much larger than the average hurricane so the storm surge is worse, even as the winds weaken. We are seeing much worse flooding in parts of coastal NC than we did from some other recent storms:

In addition, its very slow moving. They expect it to stall out for hours over land...........I heard yesterday up to 12 hours. That's why there will be so much damage. Its a not a fast moving storm.

Heavy bands of rain coming thru 10 miles SW of Boston.
If this last for a day the sewer systems all over MA will be inundated
