Interesting. I don't think they do that here. But then hurricanes in NC and Florida are
very different scenarios. Of course Duke Power does own a big chunk of Florida
utility infrastructure now. I'll check around. Does make sense they might shut down to avoid equipment damage.

Serious flooding, storm surge, high tide, , grounds already saturated, 500 mile width, funnelling all that water a huge unknown,will old infrastructure in our largest most densely populated areas hold up..whether it was a CAT 2 or strong tropical strom when it hit wasn't the biggest problem at all. Down our way water levels at the intracoastal were up to the top of the seawall even though the storm was never closer than 200 miles to SoFla
