An entire fortune is a lot better than 50% of annual profits. The "human slug" is more generous than your friend.

Anecdotes aside, here is a statistical comparison of generosity in various countries around the world. Page 32 has the entire list:

Anglo countries are right up there, occupying six of the top ten positions. MQ's New Zealand is # 2. USA is # 5. China is bringing up the rear at # 147.

HK is an impressive #18. Could that have anything to do with 150 years of British administration?
