Yes that is because you were not in one of the areas where they shut off power. But they did in fact shut off power to large parts of the county.

They did? How do you know?

In another storm that actually hit Pinellas, they didn't shut off power, but many of my friends lost power for almost a week. In August. Are you telling me they shut off power for almost a week? And told everyone they were working 24/7 to get it back up?

You were right.

They just admitted the Irene lost some it's tropical characteristics back when it left virginia and wasn't even a hurricane when it passed NYC.

They found a tree down in Brooklyn though.
