They stuck 'ole Jim Cantore down at Battery Park looking for armageddon and a 10 ft. storm Surge. They got 1 1/2 feet. Nothing close to over the sea wall where they stuck him. Although they did get some flooding in low lying areas down towards the Brooklyn Bridge?

Looks like Wall Street will open tomorrow.

In this storm the most severe damage will come from ground saturation and flooding. Most of the upper east coast got around 12 inches of rain in August prior to Irene. Irene was packing 10-15 inches. That means the ground was thoroughly saturated, leading to flooding and uprooted trees:
