Al, any plan would have to be bought in by the major banks, including BoA. There is little chance that Obama can force them to take an offer they can't refuse. They'll just lobby and kill the plan.

Actually Fannie and Freddie are more likely to kill the plan...but both are in trouble too, so the playing field is wholly unpredictable.

Refi without having any equity in their home. What a nice giveaway by the government.


How do you know that? This is what I mean....how do you know that they would offer loans to people who are under water? I mean they might...but you don't know that until the plan is unveiled, assuming that it is at all.

However, many more people, including those who were in no danger of losing their homes, would end up with a great deal on their hands.

What's a great deal? Paying going interest rates when they are paying much higher now and can't refi for one reason or another? Why would we deprive these folks from lowering their payments if, at the same time, we keep them from borrowing more than they owe today? And why is that good for "BoA" ?
