The Democrats are to blame more since their philosophy is to spend. My problem is that Reagan promised a smaller government and didn't deliver. You have to say though, yes, he was shot soon after taking office. What effect did that have? He seemed to lean of that drunk, speaker of the house, a lot after that (a democrat). But government didn't get smaller and it's been growing ever since. When Bush 41 raised taxes, breaking his pledge, I didn't care anymore because he was doing something about the deficit. Clinton actually tamed the budget but he gets no credit for it. Bush came in and completely blew everything apart. His last few years in office he gave away nearly a trillion dollars in corporate welfare without being blamed. He also grew government by leaps and bounds with little criticism from anyone. Now Obama, just like a pig, has taken over Bush's mud hole. My ideal government would be total gridlock so no one party can do anymore damage.
