The Republican party and Christianity have become one and can no longer be discussed as if they are not.

No, they haven't. Some Democrats are Christian too. You don't hear anyone calling that the party of atheists and Muslims. Why not? The 'liberal elites" want to stop anything Christian and promote Islam and atheism.
