Neeka, I think a good parallel example would be the push to have gay lifestyle sensitivity taught in public school. I see these as canceling each other out such that we need to focus on the economic policies of both parties first rather than the single issue filter. Even if Perry came out seriously in favor of teaching ID alongside evolution, if he was selected as the republican candidate for 2012, he would still get my vote. However, I might not vote for him in the primaries.
