Good post, Mq., However, I think I would substitute "bald" for "bold, thusly: <There is a clear implication: we must act now, act baldly, and act together. > And thusly again: "There are old motorcyclists, there are bald motorcyclists, but there are no old, bald motorcyclists". Perhaps helmets are responsible for this sad state of affairs. Moreover, "Run for cover when you see the word "bald". Well, no, the bald ones are the ones who need the cover. I am nicely hirsute.
