What happens in an individual state can have more affect on the inhabitants than some far off federal decision. State governments are closer to the people and problems are understood and easier to solve on a local level. It is much easier for me to go to my state capital with a request or complaint than it is to go to WDC. I don't like the idea of all laws being handed down from one central authority. Our federal govt has a specific role to fill as illustrated within the Constitution. All the rest of it is a federal power grab and federal power grabs reduce or eliminate individual liberty.
