Unions did price themselves out of the market by striking and demanding higher pay while ignoring the worldwide labor pool that was putting downward pressure on all wages. The unions short sightedness has hurt us all.

Jorj, all that is needed is to organize in China, form unions and raise the standard of living equivalent to the US. However, then we would have to do the same with India and Africa. Our wages and benefits will seek the lowest denominator wage and benefit wise for equivalent skill sets. We Capitalist's demand the maximum return on our stockholder investments don't we. Therefore, we need the profit spread greater than normal by either raising unit prices that the market will bear, freeze or reduce wages, fringe benefits and terms and conditions of employment, increase automation to reduce employees, or, reduce the cost of the product production.
