When I was 14, I won a contest at my newspaper for $125. At that time, I could have purchased about 16/15th ounces of gold. Now I can only buy 1/15th of an ounce of gold for that much cash. Kind of an amazing devaluation of the dollar in less than half a typical lifetime.
