Having been through a bunch of hurricanes, my experience is it's a lot more fun to board up and leave anything over cat 1.. Not much fun sitting around with no power and playing dodge'em at intersections.

If you have a place to go, sure helps.

One time I had a plan to time the storm....drive across the state, head south and circle back while the storm passed over .Thus avoiding the worst of it. All in the same day or so. Never did try it.
