What Powell said is irrational: And so, if the White House operatives had come forward as readily as Mister Armitage had done then we wouldn't have gone on for two more months with the FBI trying to find out what happened in the White House. Come forward with what? Powell knew the answer to the question and they did not. Nothing happened in the White House. The problem occurred in the State Department. And of course there's that question we will never know the answer to - when Powell gave the FBI the answer they were looking for why didn't they call the investigation a success and fold it up.
