I am not so sure. Obama thinks he can get away with anything. Everyone knows this is deliberate and, like a spoiled child, he needs to be told "no" a time or two.

Boehner is actually requesting that the president would reschedule for the following day. Nice touch. Boehner's request makes it obvious that Obama did not bother to call anyone prior to announcing the speech. If he agrees to change, he will be, in a way, overruled (and given a lesson in manners). If he insists on the same date, he'll make himself look like an inconsiderate man and a bully.

...and if he were smart, he would have consulted the maj. leader in advance, rather than sounding like a king, issuing blunt orders.
