I can tell you if the same storm was heading for Texas, it wouldn't have got near the press.

Well, duh. I mean, who doesn't agree that the tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT) is the breadbasket of civilization here in the US... and Texas is just, well, the geographically largest of the remaining few dozen or so other states whose names escape most people who don't live there? :)
