American individualism is like kinda like having a great big mean dog that loves me, and will protect me and my family, multiplied by many millions. I don't have to worry about that dog. That dog loves me. Maybe not me, personally, but what I, and many millions of women like me, and our children, and our homes, and our communities, represent. We are why they fight. Not just the young and pretty girls, but the mothers, and by extension, everything that they hold dear. Family. Friends. Neighbors. Doctors. Nurses. Teachers. Librarians. As well as young and pretty girls, walking down the street, wearing short skirts, free from fear. The right to vote. The right to party. The right to walk down your street and see children playing, and people walking their dogs, and mowing their lawns, and grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. It's not something abstract. There is not enough money in the world to pay for it. But it is not given for money. Nor is it extracted by force, or fear. It's hardwired in the American soul. As many have learned, to their peril. Canadians. Well. You don't have to worry. We'll take care of the Canadians, too. Part of being good neighbors. And Canadians always come through, when the chips are down. Always have, anyway.
