Things are "complicated"?, just like our income tax system. There is NO reason to pay people to do your taxes, well, unless you need to in a few situations. I consider myself educated, sometimes I get frustrated at the system and wonder if I'm treated fairly. I always thought an easy way to start to streamline the process would be at the state level, State: "What is your federal tax liability? Send us x% of that, thank you". It works out to about that every year on mine.... Given that, I believe the accounting and budget, money process is DC is that way for a reason, so common folk roll their eyes at it and blow it off.
