I thought I remembered you lived in that state. If you clicked on the link. The picture of the pan in the start of the video is the same as my pan. I think it's fairly commonly used one now, because of the good design with ripples. In all my trips the Adirondack Mountains in NY. I've only found a few micro specs in the black sands matrix. I'm going back to Herkimer this fall to look for Herkimer diamonds (quartz crystals) . I first learned to pan for gold when I was about nine at Knott's Berry Farm in California. The price of gold was under 40 dollars back then. I very much doubt they still have the area where you can pan.

I'm looking forward to see the Gold Rush season two on discovery. They just started finding the gold at the end of last season. They had to call it quits when the snow started to fall.
