Why is that?

Because while equal numbers means bad luck in Japan, unequal number are to be preferred!

Just check the Pagodas, those balcony style towers, they are always built in 3 or 5 stories!
Never 2 or 4, because that means bad luck...

If we drop another 5 the total comes up to - 7, right?

Seven - in Japanese 'shin' - also as the prefix 'shin-' means Death!

And that's exactly what we are aiming at, right?

In Japan hotels have no 7th floor just like our hotels skip the 13th floor
