Tariffs are not socialist policy! The founding fathers funded the entire federal budget from tariffs in the beginning.

the founders were great, but they weren't perfect. i consider eminent domain to be a socialist policy, and it's right there in the constitution. they implemented tariffs because a national sales tax would have been hard to employ. with tariffs, the taxed products can be easily verified and controlled at the point of entry. tracking final sales would have been difficult before the information age, but it's easy to do now.

As for your reasoning about free trade you're wrong and it's the globalists who love free trade because they don't care what happens to America.

globalists don't like free trade because they don't have control of every country. and even if they manage to get control of every country, trade won't be free. they'll demand a cut. you'll pay tribute.
