It does sound though like the Federal Govt. thru its safety regulations has really made your business secure.

Actually, not the case.

The MINER act has been watered down so much by both corporate and union influence that the conditions are very similar to pre-2006.

However, now that a few mines have the systems it is easier to show the business case rather than relying on the safety aspect of the network.

I've been in a lot of different types of mines too. Copper, Iron ore, trona, salt, lead....they all have one thing in common. They are all inherently dangerous.

The way that mining companies have been portrayed as being run by heartless greedy executives is completely counter to what I have experienced. Pretty much everyone in the operation is considered family. And it is more of a 'brothers in arms' type family rather than "one big happy family". Their lives depend on each other. And if you spend any time underground, you pretty much get accepted as part of that family. I've also found that with most miners, it is who they are. It's in their blood and they wouldn't do anything else. It's something that I totally understand.
