Imagine what impact the speech would have if he said something like this.... "To the American people I apologize, I now realize my stimulus plan and economic focus has been a bad idea and ill considered. In other areas, my administration has also been on the wrong track. Therefore, I am asking Congress to immediately rescind the ban on drilling off the east and west coast to include Alaska and ANWR. We need jobs and we need inexpensive energy to support the creation of jobs. I will ask Congress to repeal Obamacare. It was a good idea to provide health care to all Americans, but as written will not achieve the objective. We need to go back to the drawing board and re-consider all alternatives, including Health Savings accounts and TORT reform. I will ask Congress to permanently extend the Bush era tax cuts. The last thing we should do is raise taxes when so many Americans are hurting for jobs. I will ask Congress to reduce federal spending across the board 15% immediately. Since we so often struggle with what agency and what program should be cut, we'll make it an across the board cut, to exclude the military until we bring the troops home. I will ask Congress to cut all subsidies 15% including farm subsidies. I will ask Congress to reduce Federal employment across the board by 15%. And freeze government hiring until we've achieved the objective. And I am asking Congress to bring the troops home immediately! Including closing bases in Germany and across Europe. It's time the democratic countries of Europe take care of their own cost for peace and stop depending on the American taxpayer and blood of our children. This is my new strategy. I realize those on the left with think it abandons socialist ideals, and those on the far right Conservative ring believe it doesn't go far enough, but I believe it's a balanced approach and am asking the American people and Congress to support it".
