42 states and counting for me..Boston one of my favorites.

41 for me. I love Boston..lived and worked their for many years. Cambridge is where I settled. Truth: I only hung out with or socially met ONE Republican during my 20 years there. Child health and advocacy, violence prevention programs that I was a part of professionally, which also became my social circle, didn't attract them. Talk about self-selecting! It was a "really?, just ONE? revelation that gave me pause.

Didn't know I had a NY accent until I went to live there! The pronunciations of their cities and towns gave new meaning to "it ain't what it seems.";-) "wicked kool, man"<VBG>

My fave is when they're really angry with someone or about something, "I was b*llsh*t when he cut me off so I flipped him the fingah. It felt wicked good, man" I had to ask what that meant at first because sometimes it wasn't as clear....

Seems way too many stay isolated due to their backgrounds, career and family constraints, lack of will or desire or money to explore beyond their comfort zone

I agree. Pretty complex.

Yes, and you forgot the Germans...they're everywhere;-) Years back I read in the NYT that they were the folk who saved the most for vacations on a monthly basis....
