I mean we pretty much take the the expert's word on something if they COLLECTIVELY agree on it. We challenge singular expert's opinions all the time. The one time we don't accept a collective opinion is if we smell "something rotten in Denmark about it"--which is why the climigate thing was so damaging--it muddied the waters enough that the Right was able to make the case that this data set on warming is all data sets on warming so people are more cautious about the experts here than they should be---eventually this will bite the right on the rear--but by then we will have had to move to higher ground.
