.......the level of damage done to the black psyche from slavery and then decades of discrimination runs much deeper than we think and that they as a race will take longer to heal.

Seems to me that the discrimination, as is being driven home daily as a result of the Obama presidency, still runs as deep as the collective damage to the black psyche.

In fact it will prevent any appreciable level of healing, since the healing would of necessity require an interruption of the forces causing the damage.

The very fact of Obama may set the process back a decade or more
.

That's what surprised me..........I thought it would speed up the healing process. Instead it only brought out the closet racists and made them more vocal.

The thing that these a-holes don't understand is the legacy they are passing onto their kids who won't live in a white majority country like they did. Given the state of things now, I hate to see what race relations are like 30 years hence.

The ability of the Republicans to tease out the latent racism in the population, for political gain, is a phenomenon that will hopefully be dissected and condemned.

There is no upper limit on the evil these people will resort to, to get and keep power.

Bush showed us that.

Yup. They are trying to make it acceptable to be racist again. It will be interesting to see how far they get with it.

I agree..Great post. I just never thought the past 2.5 years would evolve the way they did. Was initially shocked at the inflamed rhetoric within days of Obama becoming president. Within six weeks the whole socialist, marxist, wealth redistributor, taking back America theme had already gone viral as the DOW plunged to it's lows and many were expecting unity in the face of a possible great depression 2 that thankfully never quite materialized..
