Being polite to you RJA, if you check food prices, you will see that people who are producing food such as bananas are enjoying good prices. If you check the price of oil, it has gone from $10 a barrel to $80 a barrel [and it was way up over $100 for a while]. Being polite to you, and doing some sophisticated mathematics, that's 8 times what the price of oil was. In the same time, gold has gone from $300 a barrel to $1800 a barrel. That's only 6 times.

As you know, bananas that are ripe are not a store of value. But the land and plants are. See how happy ElM is with his banana tree. Not only are they a store of value, they are highly edible. Yum. Much more edible than gold. Gold is such an absurd thing. People put vast effort into excavating it, and then they bury it again in expensive buildings/bunkers and pay guards to guard it, evermore. It goes from one hole in the ground to another. It's a huge waste of effort.

Speculative manias come and go. There was the Biotelecosmictechdot.com mania of the 1990s. Then the Mindless Zombie housing mania of the first few years of the 21st century along with a financial institution investment mania. Those two went bust. Now, hey, this time it's different. Get Gold. It's not a mania. It's the real deal. Quickly everyone, get rich quick. Get Gold. Or at least save yourself in this great store of value which like houses never goes down. No, wait. Okay, houses do go down after all. But no way for gold.

Gosh I'm well mannered being so polite to you. I will skip the part that isn't polite.
