yes, it is really bad. i saw lots of interviews of people who said they had just a few minutes to clear out. the wind coming from the north from the backside hurricane lee really drove fires on sunday and monday. there are many fires that have popped up all over central texas, and there is plenty of brush and timber to burn with the wind whipping it up. the fire in bastrop is said to be 16 miles long and six miles wide. i got a call this afternoon from some people traveling west on I-10 near us highway 183, who wanted to know if they should even try to go north on 183 the black smoke looked so bad. actually from what i saw on news reports the area on the pedernales river seems to be worse for homes destroyed, but i have no way of knowing any better. i just know from tv that state highway 71 out that way is completely closed to traffic. that is likely why there are very few live news reports coming out of the pedernales area.

OK thanks...didn't realize it was escalating that bad.

After listening to Sarah lately I guess I'm going to be less impressed with the others no matter what.
