The quote and the video --

"President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added.

Obama addressed the crowd shortly after Hoffa.

That seems different than the quote that you shared -- I guess they are trying to walk it back now, but it's hard when everybody has the video. The White House refuses to comment thus far.

There are often a lot of metaphors used in politics and this is likely one of those cases. It just seems silly that the people defending this use of language were likely pretending that other uses of political language resulted in Gabby Giffords being shot by a totally crazy person. There is just no shame in politics.

He was talking about "taking them out" at the elections by voting them out.

And what would you call Congressman Andre Carson's speech to the Black Caucus? Wasn't it about someone "Hanging From A Tree"?

Metaphor or not, inflammatory rhetoric doesn't quite mesh with Obama's civil discourse gig, does it?

Or, could it possibly be, that the president and his little munchkins have moved into an uncivil mode?

And roughly 20 minutes later, he explained on Twitter that the "full quote" of the "take these son of a bitches out" comment is "Everybody here's got to vote. If we go back & keep the eye on the prize, let's take these sons of bitches out":

Instead of "full quote" he should be saying "what I meant to say". By saying that the full quote is something other than what can be viewed and heard on video, he completely destroys his credibility.

And as someone who has experienced union violence, I'm not entirely convinced that Hoffa was speaking figuratively or symbolically.
