"today's non-union work force employee is compensated fairly enough that collective bargaining is unnecessary".

And you've come to this conclusion by being a fairly compensated employee all your life?

How do you think wages are set in many areas where there are unions and non union workers performing similar jobs?

I know because I have poached union workers who did not like the work environment. I also know we have to pay more than the union wages to get skilled employees who are able to perform more than one craft.

Unions to some extent are a necessary evil in many trades. Everyone likes to think that management will always do the right thing with employees, but even with skilled workers you will find management that is more than happy to take advantage of employees.

I can see from my own experience just having Obama in office has forced improved compliance with FLSA, with union and non union employees.
