Joe, "Otherwise, we will have riots on the streets of the cities"

Been there. Done that. The Saturday after the assassination of MLK I sat on the back of a truck with a loaded M16 ready for deployment to Washington DC. I think the US government would deal with it the same way today. Our troops are far better trained and equipped than I was back then.

We have seen this act before and the sad truth is the poor decent people who run small family businesses are the ones hurt the most.

Recently, I was speaking with our local sheriff regarding riots. His procedure statement was: (1) warnings, (2) then, use gas to disburse the rioters, (3) then use stun guns and rubber bullets, and finally, lethal force to take out the leaders with snipers. I then ask if whether he thought the opposition also may use snipers - he appeared stunned at the thought, like he had never thought that would occur. We just read the an individual with an AK 47 occupied an IHOP and shot soldiers and other customers.

I agree with you that this action would be a sad state for America if it would ever come to this action. I do not like the radical polarization of the US political process from either side. But, sh_t does happen when fear exist and individuals basic needs are not met.
