Perhaps... but what other explanation is there? Stupidity? That seems a bit harsh. I have conservative friends who are great people, smart, social, generous... but just don't see an issue until it hits them in the nose... like the one self-employed guy (covered under his wife's employer sponsored health plan) who didn't realize what health insurance cost until his wife was laid off. Now he's up in arms demanding health care reform. You're more cynical than I.
