... hm, you cannot have it both ways,

- on the one hand pointing to the fact that there are many china families setting up second homes and citizenships overseas as some ostensible desire to give up on china whereas they are just and only wisely hedging their bets as you should be, which you are apparently willing to learn the hard way, and

- on the other hand stipulating that china is somehow preventing china folks from exiting even as more china families are able to set up hedges unimpeded whereas usa families face all manner of depravity such as explicit threats of not even able to visit still-in-usa families subsequent to de-camping usa, and indignities including exit tax and 10-years chase-back

to give up china citizenship, one merely need to stop entering china on china passport

to throw away usa citizenship, one needs to line up for exit interview

compare and contrast however you could, but doubt you can make a case of china control over its citizens to give up china citizenship however you may try without being too comical in the try.
