I thought someone should reiterate the #1 rule of investing: Never invest more than you can afford to lose. Besides, it was simply too astonishing to go without comment. Why would anyone bet 1/4 million borrowed dollars on a one day trade? Particularly without the guidance of a proven trader? Why didn't he set a tighter stop loss order of say 5/8 pt, rather than let the loss grow to 3-1/2?

The biggest reason I came off so harsh is because Richard said "that's the stock market", as if he was simply an innocent victim. As I said, I am sorry for his loss, but his actions were incredibly foolish.
