Greg,

Thats a pretty vague story? NEC is a licensee of Rambus? But it does sound different from the way I heard rambus tells me RDRAM works.

I'm curious how long it will take for someone to get into a law suit w/ rambus over technology thieft?

Jeff

NEC's VCM is complementary to DRDRAM -- it could be used with a variety of different DRAM types. It's a fairly obvious (but complex) idea, sort of applying to memory controllers the "intelligent guidance of dumb hardware" idea of RISC, that will probably be used in high-end systems first, while DRDRAM is a mass-market technology in the near term. If VCM catches on, you can be sure it will be applied to DRDRAM as well.
