"Out of my desire to complete Iraq's independence and to finish the withdrawal of the occupation forces from our holy lands, I am obliged to halt military operations of the honest Iraqi resistance until the withdrawal of the occupation forces is complete," al-Sadr said in the statement, posted late Saturday. Sadrist lawmaker Mushraq Naji confirmed the statement on Sunday. * Let's just hope it was worth it hm ... in effect if we have an economic collapse after 2 decades of having our resources drained & spending decimating us here , i suppose it will wreek just as much havoc upon our enemies had we never went to war . As i recall we had the ability to do that regime change once before when we were at Iraq's door after desert storm but we fearing break up of the "coalition" and our ending up remaining there for years .<g Well that's already happened and apparently above , we've been given our walking papers now . Meanwhile the spigot of billions of aid remains open to Pakistan , Israel & Iraq & while we get offered all the consolation of a "safer world" for all this , but do think that total costs of the operation some $2tril plus the adjunct $5tril total or something in that insane region , is part of our sad dilmena to face now . And those costs will go on for years in a changing landscape that finds us now unable to employ our own people . Whether the youth & Arab Spring revolutions were helped facilitated by Saddam's ouster or would have naturally been effected had we exercised restraint & patience, with passage of time ..changing youth & aging corrupt leaders , is a question for historians .This certainly wasn't just the hope of NeoCons and with all that may have evolved with less strenuous , overzealous efforts and handling the events more adroitly , long before the advance of 2000. Lets hope it was worth it & we play it out well from here ....
