I agree it's not a left or right issue, my thought is I could participate on this thread at a minimum discussing issues we agree on, though we may disagree on efforts to improve those issues, education being one.

Our kids' education is a big issue, but I agree, it's time to step back and look at it before more money is added.

Good or bad, in Arkansas, we recently started a state lottery with the proceeds paying tuition for kids going to college. They even named it "Arkansas Scholarship Lottery". The most recent figure I saw, 22% of gross went to payouts for scholarships, with a max of $5000 each year to an in state college four year college, and I think $2500 to a two year, and once you get one, you're on the short list for the following year, they don't leave you hanging if you're doing good work.

I know health care costs are out of control, but I see hear few things in the media the cost of higher education, or for that matter, any education, being ridiculous.

Maybe the future of health care is today's education system, how we can improve the quality and lower the cost of both?
